Kevin has just completed a score for Sunlight Pictures' dramatic comedy The Upside of Anger, written and directed by Mike Binder, and starring Joan Allen and Kevin Costner. In the story, a mother and her four headstrong teenage daughters must suddenly deal with life without a husband and father. A neighbour, ex-baseball star steps in to help. It's an acerbic, emotional comedy, strongly scripted and excellently performed, Costner playing against type winningly as a beer-swilling stoner, and Joan Allen exploring the outer reaches of bitterness in superbly sardonic style. Kevin had just three weeks to write and record almost fifty minutes of music, featuring fine clarinettists Tim Lines and Michael White, and the wonderful bassoon of Robin O'Neill.
